What We Do

Professional Development Workshops

 

As classrooms become more linguistically diverse, educators are eager to expand their pedagogical repertoires. We offer in-person and online professional development workshops that speak to educators’ questions about language teaching and literacy development in multilingual contexts.

From 1-hour intensive sessions, to full-day programs, to multi-week courses, we tailor our workshops to your institutional needs. We work with English language specialists, content-area teachers, and university faculty to develop linguistically responsive and culturally sensitive instructional practices.

Teacher Coaching

 

Language is at the heart of so much of what we do as educators. We help educators to identify the linguistic demands of classroom tasks and to create discipline specific and developmentally appropriate pedagogical strategies for multilingual classrooms. As experts in content-based, language-focused instruction, we offer coaching, both in person and online, for individual teachers and teams of educators.

Curriculum Design

 

Our beliefs about language and language learning are reflected in what we teach. We provide curriculum design services to community-based organizations, language schools, and educational entrepreneurs. From identifying language goals to developing a fully articulated learning sequence, we help leaders to create strong, research-based language programs.

Differentiating materials for multilingual students

 

Engaging multilingual students with materials that are both intellectually rich and linguistically appropriate can present challenges. We guide educators in the selection and modification of materials for learners at all stages of English language development.

Program Assessment

 

As educators, we are all committed to serving multilingual learners equitably and effectively. We assist schools and programs in the evaluation of their climate, instructional approach, and outcomes in order to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
